About Convertible Buccal Tube Cap Removing Pliers
Convertible Buccal Tube Cap Removing Pliers, also called buccal tube converting pliers, are a dedicated instrument for one job: taking the removable cap off a convertible buccal tube. A convertible tube is a molar attachment with a cap over its slot; with the cap removed, the tube can be used like a bracket. This plier works on that cap. It is not for removing the whole tube, band or bracket from the tooth, which is a different instrument's job.
Working head and TC working end
The plier has an angular working head with a small projecting tip, a screw-fastened head assembly, a longitudinal rod and curved handles. The head and tip are what engage the cap at the tube's entry. On cap removers of this kind, the working elements move relative to each other to lift the temporary cap away from the tube. The working end is offered in a TC (tungsten carbide) option.
Matching the plier to your convertible tubes
Because the tip works at the cap and entry area of the tube, three things matter together: the tube model, the way its removable cap is arranged, and the clearance available for the tip. The archwire slot size describes only part of that geometry. Two tubes with the same nominal slot can have different cap shapes and entry clearance, so a slot size alone does not guarantee a fit. When you need a plier to suit a particular tube, tell us the tube make and model; the reference of a plier you already use, or a tube drawing, also helps.
