What 4.5 inches and "curved" describe
The 4.5-inch figure is the nominal overall length of the instrument, from the tips to the finger rings. It is not the length of the cutting blades, which are a small part of that total. In metric terms 4.5 inches is 114.3 mm, but the length is given nominally in inches, not as a measured millimeter tolerance.
"Curved" describes the blades: they curve away from the line of the straight shanks. The blade ends taper to fine points, unlike scissors with broad or blunt tips. Curved or straight is a choice of instrument geometry; these scissors are the curved form.
What TC means on these scissors
TC stands for tungsten carbide, a very hard material. On scissors, manufacturers typically use tungsten carbide as inserts along the cutting edges rather than making the whole blade from it. These scissors are our TC version. As an appearance note, TC scissors are often identified by gold-colored finger rings, and these have them; the color is a convention, not a specification in itself.
Comparing Iris scissors with other patterns
When you compare scissors, look at three separate attributes: overall size, tip shape and edge construction. For these scissors the answers are 4.5 inches nominal, curved fine-pointed tips and a TC designation.
