About Goldman-Fox TC Scissors

This set puts both blade configurations of the Goldman-Fox pattern on your tray: one straight and one curved scissors, each 13 cm overall. Both have tungsten carbide (TC) cutting edges on a polished AISI 420 stainless-steel body. Goldman-Fox is a soft-tissue scissors pattern used for trimming gingival and other soft tissue in periodontal and oral surgical work. Having both shapes lets you match the blade to the access in front of you.

What the set contains

  • Goldman-Fox TC scissors, straight – 13 cm
  • Goldman-Fox TC scissors, curved – 13 cm

Straight or curved: why have both

The straight scissors cut in line with the handles. When you approach a site head-on, the blades, the cutting line and your hand all stay on one predictable axis.

The curved scissors carry the tips off that axis. The handles can sit to one side while the working end follows a contour or reaches a site you approach at an angle. As a result, the instrument blocks less of your view.

Both scissors are 13 cm overall, with different blade profiles for your preferred approach. With both on the tray, you choose the geometry that suits the site instead of adapting to the one instrument you have.

Tungsten carbide where the blades meet

On these scissors, TC is the cutting component: the edges are tungsten carbide, and the rest of the instrument is polished stainless steel. Carbide is considerably harder than instrument steel, which is why it sits where the blades meet. Both scissors in the set are TC, so you get the same cutting construction whichever shape you pick up.

Edge detail on Goldman-Fox scissors varies from maker to maker. If you are matching instruments you already use, ask for close-up images of the blades with your quote.

Goldman-Fox TC Scissors Questions

What are Goldman-Fox scissors used for?

Goldman-Fox is a soft-tissue scissors pattern used for trimming gingival and other soft tissue in periodontal and oral surgical work. This set gives you the pattern in both straight and curved form, each with tungsten carbide cutting edges. You can choose the blade shape that suits the access.

Does the set include straight, curved or double-curved scissors?

Each set contains one straight and one curved Goldman-Fox TC scissors, both 13 cm long. A double-curved Goldman-Fox is not part of this two-piece set.

How do I choose between the straight and curved Goldman-Fox?

Choose by approach. The straight scissors keep the blades, cutting line and your hand on one axis, which suits a head-on approach. The curved scissors move the tips off the handle line, so they can follow a contour or reach an angled site while blocking less of your view. Both are 13 cm overall; compare their blade profiles when choosing your preferred approach.

Does TC mean the entire scissors is tungsten carbide?

No. TC stands for tungsten carbide. On this set it refers to the cutting edges. The body of each scissors is polished AISI 420 stainless steel.

Is 13 cm the overall length or the blade length?

13 cm is the overall length of each scissors in the set. If you also need to match blade length with instruments you already use, ask for that detail and close-up blade images with your quote.

Can the Goldman-Fox TC scissors be autoclaved?

Yes. Both scissors are reusable and autoclavable. Clean and sterilise them according to the processing instructions supplied with the set.
